I

Ground

Marble dust and plaster are built up across raw linen in three coats, each one left to cure for days before the next.

II

Pigment

Earth oxide and raw sienna are worked into the wet ground by hand, never with a brush — the surface decides where colour pools.

III

Fracture

As the plaster dries unevenly, it cracks on its own terms. Cristina never fills these lines — they're the painting's memory.

The work isn't finished when I stop. It's finished when the material stops moving.
